Need to Ponder
On 14th Feb 2009, I saw one performance of Bharatanatyam, of reputed dancer. That made me to think as to why the excellent dancers forget their weight and girth , while performing, though they might have had excellent physique at their lime light times.
Of course they do not forget to design adavus to match their physique and manage the so called Nrutha. Can that be hidden from the audience. Still people attend to have the peep of their abhinaya.

Performing Adavus
I think that too much of rigidity and stiffness in adavus while doing nrutha, either in nrutha piece or in Nruthya piece, may probably look mechanical and make the dancer tiresome and at the same time, a sagging and non rigid limbs will dampen the very show. we should strike a balance, and probably side slightly towards the former.

Duration of Varnams
I feel that a varnam preferably be for say 30 mts duration, and not prolonged to 40 mts. Sancharis can be crisp and not stretched. This I feel, may go well for general section of audience.

Addiction
If you are connected with Bharatanatyam in any way, you are bound to become an addict. Whenever you attend a dance programme you are tempted to continue to stay till the end, hoping for the best to see even if it is an average presentation.
